Mint Music Vol 68 : Bongo bunch of 5s #3 (cover versions)

Here’s the 3rd of our five selected Mr Bongo Records sync tracks.

Five beautiful cover versions from deep in the archive. Check out the 60s retro tinged Latin instrumental of ‘It’s Your Thing’, the attitude-soaked Latin sassiness of ‘Fever’, the effortlessly cool ‘The Dock of The Bay’, the cute carefree Bacharach-esq instrumental of ‘Sunny’ to the bongo-soaked ‘Wipeout’All master recordings are available to license for sync.

Oh, Harry

I first fell in love with Oh, Harry (aka Swedish singer/songwriter Harriet Ohlsson) about five years ago when I heard her cover of ‘Now That We Found Love’. Still one of my favourite covers ever.  SUBLIME.

Aurora Aknses : Ace Hotel gig / Life On Mars (cover)

Elfin Aurora Aknses played her first sold out London show last night at The Ace Hotel. And it was just that – ace. She manages to go from songs of mass murder through to upbeat pop songs about never finding love. All her ‘Warriors’ were transfixed and singing along to every word and she was overcome by it all. Just lovely. Oh, and she left us with a very special encore of Bowie’s ‘Life On Mars’.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – that girl’s destined for greatness. And quite rightly so – she’s adoreable.
